I’ve seen this style of hat in fashion plates from the end of the 1790s through to about 1810-ish, but there was one particular image from 1809 that i loved – simple and stylish,with a twist of blue ribbon and a feathered plume.. I decided to try it. No instruction, no drawings, just a notion in my head of what I wanted to go. Experimental straw millinery – lets do this!

The 1798 Kate Greenaway Gown
I wore my new 1798 Kate Greenaway gown with its green racing stripes to a regency picnic. The regency picnic was themed, rather than strictly historical, so I could play around with my styling,, and after everything that gown had put me through, I reckoned I’d earned it!
